Blue Whale: Focus on promising potentials
While the heat last summer led to lower harvests in other European countries, Blue Whale, France's market leader in the apple sector, is satisfied with the campaign so far. "The high temperatures have ensured very good sweetness and excellent taste of the fruit," confirms marketing manager Christelle Bertin. Lower volumes in other markets mean an earlier end of season for some varieties, e.g. Gala - which in turn means that there could be room for something new on the shelves, says Bertin. The company wants to concentrate on promising potential: "We have worked out which varieties are very popular with customers: Jazz®, Candine®, Cœur de Reine and Envy®," says Bertin. These varieties are also to be made more popular in Berlin. /id
