Chile: More than 67,000 tonnes of prunes exported
The value was US$ 256 million in 2022. Thanks to a cultivated area of 12,550 ha, Chile is able to achieve a total plum production of around 100,000 t per year, 2/3 of which is destined for dried plums, simfruit reports.A total of 81 countries were supplied, with the main markets being China, Mexico, the UK, the USA, Poland, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Spain and the Netherlands. Of the first three countries, China, which is also a strong importer of fresh plums, received 11,582 tonnes (US$36.5m); Mexico 6,677 tonnes (US$24.4m) and UK 5,295 tonnes (US$20.7m).
