GfK Consumer Index: Higher average prices paid have compensated somewhat for volume loss
The value development of fruit/vegetables/potatoes lags behind the development of FMCG overall both in December 2022 (-2.2% vs. December 2021) and in 2022 as a whole (-3.6% vs. year 2021). This negative sales development of minus 3.6% contrasts with a volume development of minus 6.3%. The higher average prices paid (+2.9%) have thus compensated somewhat for the volume loss. However, the overall category has been able to benefit less from the price development than others.
