The European Commission has approved the shipping giant Mediterranean Shipping Company's (MSC) plan to purchase just under half of the Port of Hamburg terminal and service operator Hamburger Hafen Aktiengesellschaft (HHLA), as well as its proposed acquisition of a Lyon-based freight forwarding and logistics company.
