Enza Zaden: quality with High Resistance to ToBRFV
In 2014, a devastating virus appeared in Israel for the tomato crop, ToBRFV, popularly known as the rugose virus. A problem that is currently affecting numerous countries, including Spain, Italy and Morocco. The low supply shortage caused by the incidence of the virus and the effects of inflation have led to prices that at the beginning of January were above 1.5-1.6 €/kg for the G branch, 1.95 €/kg for loose tomatoes and 1.2 €/kg for pear tomatoes. Very high figures for these dates.
As soon as the appearance of ToBRFV became known, Enza Zaden set to work to find the gene that would provide High Resistance to ToBRFV.
"Fruit Today" magazine is a valuable source of information for the fresh produce industry. Its aim is to connect fruit producers from Southern Europe with European import and distribution channels. The articles cover the entire value chain of the fruit and vegetable trade, as well as companies operating in the industry. The magazine has a yearly print run of 5,000 copies, distributed in countries such as Spain, Germany, the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Eastern Europe, Chile, and Peru. It is distributed through both direct subscriptions and free distribution at major European trade fairs.
