In July 2024 Rijk Zwaan will celebrate a century of life as an "independent family business". A status that has characterised the company founded in 1294 by Mr Rijk Zwaan throughout most of its history - between 1986 and 1989 it was owned by British Petroleum (BP), only to pass back into family hands.
