Differences in price of tomato products between Northern and Central-Southern Italy
“Compared with previous years, the shelf price of tomato products has increased making it impossible to find anything that costs just 59 eurocents," explains Giuseppe Stasi, sales manager at Rosso Gargano.
"The big retail chain has absorbed part of the costs so as not to reduce the purchasing power of families further, although a slight tension remains in the formation of product prices. If we consider the same product, prices are higher in northern Italy than in the center/south of the country. Families are being affected by inflation, so reigning in prices is the only way to stop the race to discount stores looking for special promotions."
