And what is the breakdown of apple exports by month?

w4

In volume terms, January saw a 13.2 per cent improvement on December, but this was still 8.9 per cent weaker than the November "peak".

On a January 2021 to January 2020 basis, we are up by 7.3 per cent.

As for the value of apple exports in January 2021, it was 13.0 per cent higher than December, but (as with volume) 4.2 per cent weaker than November 2020.

In terms of January 2021 to January 2020 we see a decline of 4.5 per cent.

Let's now take a look at the average prices achieved by Polish apples in exports (bearing in mind that their value is slightly understated in the presented data, as apples for processing are also included).

w5

January 2021 saw a break in the upward trend in export apple prices that had continued since October last year. The average price fell from December's level of 1.86 PLN/kg to 1.85 PLN/kg, i.e. by 0.1 per cent. Not much, but the trend continued in February and March.

However, between January 2021 and January 2020, we see a 3.0 per cent increase in the average price. Compared to the January 2019 level, the increase is much higher, by 41.0 per cent.
