Export of apples from Poland after the second quarter of 2021

The export volume of apples from Poland (CN category 080810 - Fresh apples) amounted to 499.6 thousand tonnes in the first half of 2021, while its value reached 931.8 million PLN. This means an increase in exports year-on-year.
 
 
 
In the first half of 2020, the volume of Polish apple exports amounted to 405.0 thousand tonnes, while its value reached PLN 870.7 million. This means an increase in volume by 94.7 thousand tonnes, i.e. by 23.4%, and an increase in value by PLN 61.1 million, i.e. by 7.0%.
 
 
 
The average export price for apples in the first half of 2021 was 1.87 PLN/kg (excluding cider apples), compared to 2.16 PLN/kg in the same period of 2020. This means a year-on-year decrease of 13.4 per cent.
 
 
 
Belarus remained the largest buyer of Polish apples with a decrease in volume from 89.5 to 84 thousand tonnes.
 
Egypt was ranked second from third with an increase in volume from 24.2 to 54.8 thousand tonnes.
 
Romania has dropped from second to third place with exports increasing from 44.0 to 47.0 thousand tonnes.
 
Germany came in fourth from fifth with an increase in volume from 23.0 to 39.5 thousand tonnes.
 
Kazakhstan has dropped from third place to fifth, with volumes falling from 39.1 to 37.7 thousand tonnes.
 
 
 
The list of Polish apple buyers in the first half of 2021 included 61 countries, 13 of which bought more than 10 thousand tonnes of the fruit.
 
 
 
Among the five largest buyers, Romania bought the most expensive dessert apples, at 2.23 PLN/kg on average, and Germany the cheapest, at 1.45 PLN/kg on average. The largest buyer, Belarus, was buying Polish apples at an average of 1.48 PLN/kg.
