Export of frozen strawberries from Poland in 2020 based on CSO data

The export volume of frozen strawberries from Poland (CN 081110 category - Strawberries and strawberries uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water, frozen, whether or not containing added sugar or other sweeteners) amounted to 87.4 thousand tonnes in 2020, and its value to 609.2 million PLN. This means a year-on-year decrease.

This is because in 2019 exports in the category in question amounted to 94.2 thousand tonnes and PLN 666.9 million. This gives a decrease in volume by 6.8 thousand tonnes, or 7.2 percent, and a decrease in value by PLN 57.7 million, or 8.7 percent.

The average price of frozen strawberries exported from Poland was 6.97 PLN/kg in 2020 compared to 7.08 PLN/kg in the same period of 2019, which means a year-on-year decrease by as much as 1.6 per cent.

As for changes in the geographical structure of frozen strawberry exports between 2019 and 2020, there were only quantitative changes in the top five buyers.

Germany strengthened in first place with an increase in volume from 31.4 to 31.5 thousand tonnes.

The Netherlands remained in second place with a volume reduction from 15.7 to 13.0 thousand tonnes.

France remained in third place with a reduction in volume from 8.9 to 7.8 thousand tonnes.

Belgium is fourth with a decrease from 6.0 to 5.0 thousand tonnes.

Sweden has strengthened its position in fifth place with an increase in volume from 4.9 to 5.0 thousand tonnes.

It should be added that the list of recipient countries of Polish frozen strawberries is truly impressive, as it includes as many as 59 countries and territories, of which 12 countries bought more than 1000 tonnes of Polish frozen strawberries in 2020.

As far as average prices of frozen strawberries exported from Poland in 2020 are concerned, the highest average price among the five largest recipients was paid by Sweden, at 7.30 PLN per kilo, and the lowest by Belgium, at 6.46 PLN per kilo. The largest recipient, Germany, paid an average of 6.80 PLN/kg.
