Import of oranges to Poland at the end of Q2 2021

The volume of oranges imported to Poland (CN category 080510 - Fresh or dried oranges) in the first half of 2021 amounted to 99.0 thousand tonnes and its value reached PLN 306.0 million. This means an increase in imports in terms of quantity, as well as in terms of value.

In the first half of 2020, imports in this category amounted to 84.5 thousand tonnes and PLN 264.0 million. This gives a year-on-year increase in volume by 14.5 thousand tonnes, i.e. by 17.1 per cent, and a year-on-year increase in value by PLN 42.1 million, i.e. by 15.9 per cent.

The average price of imported oranges in the first half of 2021 was 3.09 PLN/kg compared to 3.12 PLN/kg in the same period of 2020, which means a year-on-year decrease by 1.0 per cent.

Spain remained at the first place in the ranking of orange suppliers to Poland between the first half of 2020 and 2021, despite a decrease in the volume of deliveries from 44.8 to 41.0 thousand tonnes.

Greece has strengthened its second position by increasing deliveries from 14.8 to 23.1 thousand tonnes.

Egypt has risen to third from fourth, with deliveries increasing from 8.8 to 16.2 thousand tonnes.

Germany has dropped to fourth place from third, even though deliveries from Germany have increased from 10.0 to 12.4 thousand tonnes.

Italy has risen to fifth from sixth place with deliveries increasing from 1.5 to 3.1 thousand tonnes.

Portugal has dropped from fifth to sixth place. Here, deliveries have been maintained at 2.2 thousand tonnes.

When it comes to average prices for oranges in the first half of 2021 from the above-mentioned largest suppliers, the highest price was for fruit imported from Germany - 3.63 PLN/kg and the lowest for fruit imported from Egypt - 2.45 PLN/kg. Oranges imported from Spain, the largest supplier, had an average price of 3.30 PLN/kg.
