Industrial apples in Poland - there is demand for Golden

In winter, the pace of buying apples for processing slows down for obvious reasons. Even if the winter turns out to be mild, the technological challenges during this period increase and many factories, especially smaller ones, stop work. This is also the case this season.

This means a fall in current demand for industrial apples and usually entails a fall in prices. In line with this trend, industrial apples have fallen to between 0.30 and 0.40 zlotys per kilo in recent weeks. But it turns out that even in winter, processors' interest may increase, except that it does not apply to all raw material but to selected varieties.

In recent days there has been a clear increase in demand for industrial apples of the Golden Delicious variety for pressed juices and purees. Just a few days ago purchase prices for such Golden Delicious apples ranged from 0.55-0.60 PLN/kg. Now it is already 0.65 zł/kg to even 0.70 zł/kg. This means an increase by 16% on average. However purchase prices of the so-called "dry industry" remained significantly behind. Mixed apples in this category are priced at 0.40 zł/kg and dry industry by variety (e.g. Ligol and other reds) is at 0.50 zł/kg.
