The volume of kiwi fruit (CN 081050 category - kiwi fruit, fresh) imported to Poland after three quarters of 2021 amounted to 22.9 thousand tonnes and its value reached 163.2 million zlotys. This means a slight year-on-year increase in terms of volume and a much higher increase in terms of value.
In the three quarters of 2020, imports in this category amounted to 22.7 thousand tonnes and PLN 141.1 million. This means an increase in volume by 0.2 thousand tonnes, i.e. by 0.9 percent, while the value of these imports increased by as much as PLN 22.2 million, i.e. by 15.7 percent.
The average price of kiwifruit imported to Poland in the three quarters of 2021 amounted to 7.14 zł/kg compared to 6.23 zł/kg a year earlier. This gives a year-on-year increase of 14.6 per cent.
Between the first three quarters of 2020 and the same period of 2021, the leader of the list of the largest kiwifruit suppliers to Poland changed. The leader is Italy, up from second place, where imports of kiwifruit increased from 6.2 to 8.4 thousand tonnes.
Greece dropped from first position to second, with imports of kiwis falling from 8.7 to 7.2 thousand tonnes.
Germany has moved up to third from fourth despite a drop in supplies from 3.1 to 3.0 thousand tonnes.
Chile dropped to fourth from third with a reduction in deliveries from 3.6 to 2.6 thousand tonnes.
New Zealand strengthened its position in fifth place by increasing deliveries from 0.3 to 0.9 thousand tonnes.
The most expensive kiwifruit in the three quarters of 2021, in terms of the largest suppliers mentioned, came from New Zealand at an average price of 10.99 PLN/kg. The lowest average price was for fruit imported from the largest supplier, Italy, at an average of 6.08 PLN/kg.
