Kiwifruit imports to Poland at the end of Q2 2021

The volume of kiwi fruit imports to Poland (CN 081050 category - kiwi fruit, fresh) amounted to 19.3 thousand tonnes in the first half of 2021 and its value reached 130.7 million PLN. This means a year-on-year increase both in terms of volume and value.

In the first half of 2020, imports in this category amounted to 18.9 thousand tonnes and PLN 110.2 million. This means an increase in volume by 0.4 thousand tonnes or 2.1%, while the value of these imports increased by as much as PLN 20.6 million or by 18.7%.

The average price of kiwi imported to Poland in the first half of 2021 amounted to 6.76 zł/kg compared to 5.82 zł/kg a year earlier. This gives a year-on-year increase of 16.2 per cent.

Between the first half of 2020 and the same period of 2021, the leader of the list of the largest kiwifruit suppliers to Poland changed. The leader was Italy, where kiwi imports increased from 6.1 to 7.9 thousand tonnes.

Greece dropped to second place with a volume reduction from 8.5 to 7.0 thousand tons.

Germany remained in third place despite a volume decrease from 2.4 to 2.3 thousand tonnes.

Chile was also among the big suppliers, maintaining its fourth place with a drop in deliveries from 1.5 to 1.2 thousand tonnes.

The most expensive kiwifruit in the first half of 2021, as far as the mentioned largest suppliers are concerned, came from Chile at an average price of 9.21 PLN/kg. The lowest average price was from the largest supplier, Italy, at an average of 6.05 PLN/kg.
