Lemon imports to Poland after Q2 2021

The volume of lemons imported to Poland (CN category 08055010 - Lemons (Citrus limon, Citrus limonum)), fresh or dried) amounted to 68.9 thousand tonnes in the first half of 2021, and its value to PLN 284.1 million. This means that, year-on-year, imports in this category declined less in volume terms and much more significantly in value terms.
 
 
In the first half of 2020, imports in this category amounted to 71.7 thousand tonnes and their value to PLN 385.1 million. This means a drop in terms of quantity by 2.8 thousand tonnes, i.e. by 4.0 per cent, and in terms of value by PLN 101.0 million, i.e. by 26.2 per cent.
 
 
 
The average price of lemons imported to Poland in the first half of 2021 amounted to 4.13 PLN/kg compared to 5.37 PLN/kg in the same period of 2020. This represents a year-on-year fall in the average price by 23.1 per cent.
 
 
The top three suppliers of lemons to Poland in the first half of 2021 are:
 
Spain remained in first position, with the volume of deliveries from this country increasing from 48.6 to 48.7 thousand tonnes.
 
Germany remains in second place, with imports falling from 7.9 to 7.8 thousand tonnes.
 
Turkey has risen to third from fourth place with deliveries increasing from 3.4 to 5.3 thousand tonnes.
 
South Africa came fourth from fifth with an increase in deliveries from 1.2 to 2.2 thousand tonnes.
 
Samoa came in fifth with 1.8 thousand tonnes!
 
Argentina dropped from third to seventh place with deliveries of lemons down from 5.4 to 0.6 thousand tonnes.
 
 
Among these suppliers, lemons imported from Germany (re-export) fetched the highest average price of 5.96 PLN/kg. The cheapest lemons were imported from Turkey at PLN 3.30 per kg and lemons from the largest supplier, Spain, were sold at an average price of PLN 3.84 per kg.
