Onion prices in Poland without improvement

2021-01-28 12:09
After a more pronounced improvement of onion prices in the Polish wholesale (almost by one third), which took place in November last year, we had to wait until January this year for another change in plus. However, it was not so impressive as prices of bagged onion increased only by less than 6 per cent on average.

Consequently, they found themselves in the range of 0,70-1,10 zlotys per kilo, depending on the calibre, quality and size of the transaction. But this increase did not continue. On the contrary, there was a downward correction and the range of onion prices in the large wholesaler returned to the level of 0.70-1.00 zlotys/kg.
All in all, as can be seen on the graph below, the January changes described have not had a major impact on the price situation on the onion market in Poland. The forecast cited in our text published on fresh-market.pl (here) can be safely maintained. The situation on the onion market in Poland, and more broadly in Europe, remains difficult and there is little chance of a clear upward trend in onion prices.
