Peach and nectarine imports to Poland at the end of Q2 2021

The import volume of peaches and nectarines (CN category 080930 - Peaches, including nectarines, fresh) amounted to 23.0 thousand tonnes in the first half of 2021, and its value to 133.8 million PLN. This means an increase in imports in this category year-on-year.

Indeed, peach and nectarine imports to Poland in the first half of 2020 amounted to 9.3 thousand tonnes and 115.7 million. This results in a year-on-year increase in volume by 3.7 thousand tonnes, i.e. by 19.2 per cent, and an increase in value by PLN 18.1 million, i.e. by 15.6 per cent.

The average price of peaches imported to Poland in the first half of 2021 amounted to 5.80 PLN/kg compared to 5.53 PLN/kg the year before, which means an increase of 4.9 percent year-on-year.

The average price of nectarines imported to Poland in the first half of 2021 amounted to 5.85 PLN/kg compared to the level of 6.55 PLN/kg in 2019, a decrease of 10.7 percent year-on-year. As can be seen, the average prices of peaches and nectarines imported to Poland were similar during the period in question.

At the top of the ranking of peach suppliers during the period in question, Spain has strengthened from where imports increased from 6.6 to 8.4 thousand tonnes.

Second place went to Germany, despite a drop in supplies from 1.3 to 1.2 thousand tonnes.

France came in third with a volume of 0.9 thousand tonnes in the first half of 2021.

Greece has dropped out of the top three - from second to sixth place - with supplies decreasing from 1.8 to 0.3 thousand tonnes.

Spain also remains in first place on the nectarine supplier list, with deliveries increasing from 5.5 to 7.8 thousand tonnes over the period in question.

Germany remained in second place with a volume of 1.1 thousand tonnes.

Italy rose to third from seventh place with deliveries increasing from 0.2 to 0.5 thousand tonnes.

Greece dropped from third to eighth place with a drop in imports from 0.8 to 0.1 thousand tonnes.

As far as peaches are concerned, the highest average price among the top three suppliers in the first half of 2021 was recorded for peaches imported from Germany - 7.27 PLN/kg, and the lowest for Spanish peaches - 5.59 PLN/kg.

As for nectarines, the highest average price among the top five suppliers was achieved by those imported from Germany - 7.73 PLN per kilo, the lowest by Italian - 5.16 PLN per kilo, and those from the largest supplier, Spain, had an average price of 5.17 PLN per kilo.
