Plum exports from Poland in 2020 based on GUS data

The volume of plum exports from Poland (CN category 08094005 - Fresh plums) amounted to 8.7 thousand tonnes in 2020, and its value to PLN 29.3 million. This means a significant increase in both the volume and value of these exports.
 
In fact, in 2019, the volume of plums exported from Poland reached 6.9 thousand tonnes with a value of PLN 19.3 million. This gives a volume increase of 1.9 thousand tonnes, or 27.4 percent, and a value increase of PLN 9.9 million, or 51.3 percent. It can be added that such a change means a return in volume to the level of 2018, but with a higher export value than then.
 
The average price of plums exported from Poland (calculated as the ratio of export value to its volume) in 2020 was 3.34 PLN/kg compared to 2.82 PLN/kg in 2019. This means its year-on-year increase by 18.4 per cent.
 
As for changes in the geographical structure of plum exports from Poland between 2019 and 2020, they were quite large. First of all, there was a change in the position of the leader of the list, which entailed further reshuffling within the top five.
 
Germany was promoted to first place from second with an increase in volume from 1.4 to 2.7 thousand tonnes.
 
Ukraine dropped from first place to second with a drop in plum exports from 1.7 to 1.0 thousand tonnes.
 
Finland strengthened its third position by increasing its volume from 0.8 to 0.9 thousand tonnes.
 
Latvia remained fourth with an increase in volume from 0.5 to 0.8 thousand tonnes.
 
Slovakia moved up to fifth place from ninth with an increase in purchases of Polish plums from 0.2 to 0.5 thousand tonnes.
 
Lithuania dropped out of the top five, from fifth to seventh place, with volumes remaining at just below 0.5 thousand tonnes.
 
As for the prices Polish plums received in exports to the top five buyers, Latvia was the cheapest buyer in 2019 with an average price of 2.60 PLN/kg and Ukraine the most expensive with 3.52 PLN/kg.
