Preliminary tree fruit harvest estimate in Poland

2021-10-01 10:47
Experts of the Central Statistical Office (CSO) in Poland  have estimated that this year's total fruit harvest will amount to around 5 million tonnes and will be by 11 per cent higher than the harvest of 2020. Let us remind that the CSO's preliminary estimates spoke about the volume of 4.6 million tonnes.

This time, the tree fruit production was estimated at 4.4 million tonnes and, if the weather conditions do not change in the coming weeks, this level should be maintained. The forecast from the end of July referred to a volume of 4.0 million tonnes.

This time the CSO estimates the apple harvest at just over 4.0 million tonnes. This would be 13 per cent more than last year's production. At the end of July the estimate was 3.6 million tonnes.

The CSO experts have now estimated the pear harvest at 76,000 tonnes, which is 36 per cent more year-on-year. In July, the pear harvest was estimated at 57,000 tonnes.

The plum harvest was estimated at just under 110,000 tonnes, which would mean a 10 per cent increase year-on-year. The same volume was mentioned in the initial estimate.

The cherry production is now estimated at 165 thousand tonnes, i.e. 8 per cent more than in 2020. In the preliminary estimation, the CSO mentioned the same value.

The cherry harvest has now been estimated by the CSO experts at 58 thousand tonnes, i.e. by 17 per cent more year-on-year. This estimate has also not changed in relation to the preliminary estimate from the end of July.

According to the preliminary estimate, the harvest of the remaining tree fruit species (peaches, apricots and walnuts) is expected to amount to less than 13 thousand tonnes, i.e. 5 per cent higher year-on-year, mainly due to a good harvest of peaches. Initial estimates in July were for a harvest of 12,500 tonnes.
