The peach and apricot market is becoming increasingly tight.

2024-07-04 08:15

The market for peaches, apricots, and nectarines in Poland has become quite crowded. In addition to the fruits currently being imported in large quantities to Poland, we also have domestic competition. This competition is especially evident in the peach segment. It seems that we are already at the peak supply of the summer season for stone fruits.

This can be seen in the price trends that have dominated this segment of the wholesale market for fresh fruits. Since the beginning of the spring-summer season, we have seen continuous and dynamic price declines for all three types of fruits. In the last month, imported peaches have decreased in wholesale trade on a larger scale by 36 percent, nectarines by 39 percent, and apricots by 35 percent.

Currently, the prices in large wholesale for these fruits are as follows: imported peaches at 4.00-5.00 PLN/kg, which is one Polish złoty per kilogram (18 percent) lower year over year; imported nectarines at 5.00-6.00 PLN/kg, at a level similar to last year; imported apricots at 5.00-8.00 PLN/kg, also with similar prices as last year.

Polish peaches have appeared in the wholesale offers, and their supply is rapidly increasing (although it is still a fraction of the market). The prices in the sales offers from producers are 4.00-5.00 PLN/kg. In small wholesale, the prices for these fruits range from 4.00 to 6.00 PLN/kg. Domestic apricots are also now available. The prices for these fruits in producer offers are currently 7.00-11.00 PLN/kg, and in small wholesale from 7.00 to 12.00 PLN/kg.
