The rhubarb season has started in Poland

2021-04-26 11:42
The first batches of rhubarb have arrived on the wholesale market. The season of this vegetable started about the same time as last year, but its supply is now much lower than in the last decade of 2020. And this difference can also be seen in prices.

Last year, the availability of rhubarb on the wholesale market grew so rapidly at the end of April that prices fell quickly. The first quotations at that time on the local wholesale markets were fairly typical for rhubarb at 7.00-8.00 PLN/kg. But already around 26 April 2020 Goo could be bought from 5.00 PLN/kg, i.e. about 30 per cent cheaper than at the start of the season.

Now the situation is quite different. There is less rhubarb than a year ago and its supply is not growing. This is the effect of the weather, which is not conducive to rapid vegetation. Spring this year is generally cool. This can be seen in the prices of this vegetable. The season started more expensive than the previous one - even with prices up to 11.00 PLN/kg, although there were places where the start was more typical - at 7.00-8.00 PLN/kg. Today, prices are only slightly lower - between PLN 6.00 and PLN 10.00/kg, a drop of 16 per cent.
