Tomato imports to Poland after Q2 2021

The volume of tomato imports to Poland (CN category 070200) in the first half of 2021 amounted to 104.5 thousand tonnes, and its value to 710.8 million PLN. This means a decrease in imports in this category in terms of volume and an increase in its value.
 
In the first half of 2020, tomato imports amounted to 109.2 thousand tonnes, and their value reached PLN 663.0 million. The volume decreased by 4.8 thousand tonnes, i.e. by 4.4 per cent. The value of imports increased by only 47.8 million PLN, i.e. by 7.2 per cent.
 
The average price of tomatoes imported to Poland in the first half of 2021 amounted to 6.80 PLN/kg compared to 6.07 PLN/kg in the same period of 2020, which means a year-on-year increase of 12.0 per cent.
 
The second largest recipient of Polish tomatoes is the Netherlands, despite a decrease in the volume of deliveries from this country from 30.3 to 29.1 thousand tonnes.
 
Spain has dropped from first place to second, with deliveries falling from 37.7 to 26.4 thousand tonnes.
 
Morocco remained in third place, with deliveries increasing from 16.8 to 19.5 thousand tonnes.
 
Turkey has risen to fourth place from fifth with an increase in volume from 8.3 to 13.2 thousand tonnes.
 
Germany has dropped to fifth from fourth, with tomato deliveries to Poland remaining at 10.0 thousand tonnes.
 
As for the average prices of tomatoes imported to Poland in the first half of 2021 from the five largest suppliers, the German price was the highest, averaging 10.55 PLN/kg, and the Turkish price was the lowest, at 4.42 PLN/kg. Tomatoes from the largest supplier, the Netherlands, had an average price of PLN 6.78/kg over the period.
