Volume of kiwi fruit imports to Poland in Q1 2021

The volume of kiwi fruit imports to Poland (CN 081050 category - kiwi fruit, fresh) amounted to 12.3 thousand tonnes in the first quarter of 2021 and its value reached 74.0 million zlotys. This represents a year-on-year increase both in terms of volume and value.

In the first quarter of 2020, imports in this category amounted to 12.0 thousand tonnes and PLN 58.5 million. This means an increase in volume by 0.3 thousand tonnes, i.e. by 2.3%, while the value of these imports increased by as much as PLN 15.5 million, i.e. by 26.46%.

The average price of kiwifruit imported to Poland in the first quarter of 2021 was 6.03 PLN/kg compared to 4.88 PLN/kg a year earlier. This represents a year-on-year increase of 23.6 per cent.

As for changes in the geographic structure of imports in this category between the first quarter of 2020 and the same period of 2021, there were no such changes in the top three suppliers. There were only quantitative changes.

Greece remained in first place despite a reduction in the volume of kiwifruit delivered from 6.6 to 5.7 thousand tonnes.

Italy strengthened its position in second place by increasing its deliveries from 3.6 to 4.7 thousand tonnes.

Germany remained in third place with a drop from 1.6 to 1.5 thousand tonnes.

The most expensive kiwifruit in Q1 2021, as far as the largest suppliers are concerned, came from Germany at an average price of 7.63 PLN/kg. The lowest average price was recorded for kiwifruit imported from Italy at an average of 5.26 zlotys per kilo, while kiwifruit from the largest supplier, Greece, were imported at an average price of 6.43 PLN per kilo.
