2021-03-01 11:09
WAPA has published an updated estimate of pear stocks. As far as the European Union countries are concerned, stocks of this fruit, as of 1 February 2021, amounted to 593,365 tonnes. The vast majority of these stocks, 470,074 tonnes, are Conference pears. A month earlier, the volume of pear stocks was estimated at 756,710 tonnes.

In January 2020, 163,345 tonnes disappeared from European warehouses. This represents a 21.6 per cent month-on-month reduction in EU pear stocks. In December, the "disappearance" of pears amounted to 142,754 tonnes. As it can be seen, the trade of this fruit was slightly more dynamic in January.

In the current season, there are more pears in the EU countries than a year ago. According to WAPA, the stock on 1.02.2020 was 496,901 tonnes, so year-on-year there are 96,464 tonnes more pears. This is an increase of 19.4 per cent.

As for Poland, at the beginning of February 2021, WAPA estimated Polish pear stocks at 9,000 tonnes. A month earlier it was 26,000 tonnes. This means a "descent" in January of 17,000 tonnes. Thus, the stock decreased in January 2020 by 65,4 per cent.

A year earlier, as of 01.02.2020, the stock of Polish pears was 1,000 tonnes. This means a year-on-year increase of 8,000 tonnes, or 800.0 per cent.
