WAPA - pear stocks, January 2021.

2021-02-02 10:36
WAPA has published an updated estimate of pear stocks. As for the European Union countries, stocks of this fruit, as of 1 January 2021, amounted to 756,710 tonnes. The vast majority of these stocks, 529,920 tonnes, are Conference pears. A month earlier, the volume of pear stocks was estimated at 899,464 tonnes.

In December 2020, 142,754 tonnes were therefore removed from European warehouses. This means a reduction in pear stocks in the EU by 15.9 per cent month-on-month. In November this indicator was 14,9 per cent, so the dynamics of this fruit sale has slightly increased.

In the current season, there are more pears in the EU countries than a year ago. According to WAPA data, the stock on 1.01.2020 amounted to 648,302 tonnes, so year-to-year there are 108,408 tonnes more pears. This is an increase of 16.7 per cent.

As for Poland, at the beginning of January 2021, WAPA estimated Polish pear stocks at 26,000 tonnes (of which 22,000 tonnes are Conference). A month earlier it was 36,000 tonnes. This means a "descent" in December of 10,000 tonnes. Thus, stocks were down 27.8 percent in December 2020.

A year earlier, on 1.01.2020, the stock of Polish pears was 7,000 tonnes. We therefore have a year-on-year increase of 19,000 tonnes, or 171.4 per cent.
