What are the prices of industrial apples?
The period between the end of July and the beginning of August is still a transitional period between the old and new apple seasons. This transition extends all the way to the main autumn harvest. There are seasons when this transition brings about a noticeable change in the prices of industrial apples. This usually happens when there is a large increase in the supply of early apples, leading to a lot of interruptions and price drops in the industry.
This is certainly not the case this year. In 2024, we have a relatively stable situation in the industrial apple sector, both in terms of market demand and supply. The demand for industrial apples remains high, and there doesn't seem to be any rapid changes on the horizon.
On the other hand, we have a continuation of supply that is not favoring processors. This was the case with the 2023 harvest apples, and it is the same with the apples from the new harvest. As a result, we have a relatively stable pricing situation in the industrial market. Even if there are some changes in the prices offered at specific collection points, it has been happening within stable price ranges.
Currently, the prices for industrial apple collection range from 0.92 to 1.20 PLN/kg, which is approximately 0.21 to 0.28 EUR/kg. There is still demand for dry industry apples, and there are still growers who have apples to sell. The prices for dry industry apples currently range from 1.10 to 1.30 PLN/kg, or about 0.26 to 0.30 EUR/kg. It is worth noting that in the collection of regular industrial apples (where the proportion of new harvest apples is slowly increasing), the statistical distribution of prices within the range shows that there are more prices at or above 1.00 PLN/kg (approximately 0.23 EUR/kg), and fewer below one złoty.
