Cabbage imports to Poland after Q3 2021

The volume of cabbage imported to Poland (CN category 070490 - Cabbage, kohlrabi, savoy cabbage and similar edible brassicas, except cauliflower, broccoli and Brussels sprouts, fresh or chilled) after three quarters of 2021 amounted to 22.4 thousand tonnes and its value to 74.8 million PLN. This means an increase in imports in this category year-on-year, especially in value terms.

In the three quarters of 2020, imports in this category amounted to 21.3 thousand tonnes and PLN 51.0 million. This gives an increase in volume by 1.1 thousand tonnes, i.e. by 5.1%, and an increase in value by as much as PLN 23.8 million, i.e. by 46.6%.

The average price of vegetables from this category imported to Poland in the three quarters of 2021 amounted to 3.34 PLN/kg compared to 2.39 PLN/kg in the corresponding period of 2020, which means a year-on-year increase by 39.7 per cent.

Of course, this category is aggregated and includes a group of vegetables with different prices, so the above information is only of value insofar as it shows the direction of change.

Macedonia remains at the first place in the ranking of the biggest vegetable suppliers to Poland, between three quarters of 2020 and the same period of 2021, despite the fact that deliveries from this country decreased year-to-year from 12.0 to 8.8 thousand tons.

The Netherlands moved into second place from sixth place by increasing deliveries from 0.7 to 2.7 thousand tonnes.

It has pushed Italy from second to third, with imports down from 3.7 to 2.5 thousand tonnes.

Germany has dropped to fourth place from third, with imports rising from 1.7 to 2.1 thousand tonnes.

Spain dropped to fifth place from fourth with an increase in deliveries from 1.2 to 1.9 thousand tonnes.

Portugal has moved up to sixth place from fifth with an increase in volume from 0.9 to 1.4 thousand tonnes.
