Italian and Spanish table grape prices fall as supply increases in late July 2026
Wholesale prices for Italian table grapes from Sicily and Apulia dropped by 9.8% week-on-week, with white Vittoria and Black Magic varieties trading at €2.2–2.5/kg, and seedless grapes at around €4.0/kg. Demand in Italy remains subdued but is expected to rise in August-September.
The Italian table grape campaign is in full swing, with main production coming from Sicily and Apulia. Wholesale prices for white Vittoria and Black Magic grapes declined by 9.8% compared to the previous week, currently ranging from €2.2 to €2.5 per kg. Seedless grape varieties are available at approximately €4.0 per kg. The overall quality is reported as good, but demand is still moderate for the period, projected to increase towards late summer.
Spanish companies specializing in seedless table grapes, such as Moyca, continue to focus on technological innovation, including automated order preparation and AI-based crop forecasting, to boost efficiency and maintain supply continuity. Spain remains one of the main suppliers of seedless grapes to European markets during the summer months.
In the broader Southern European fruit market, melon and watermelon prices are also under downward pressure due to high supply and weak seasonal demand, with Italian watermelons trading at €0.3–0.6/kg and premium lots reaching €1.0/kg. This trend reflects generally high availability across the region, impacting pricing dynamics for other summer fruits, including grapes.
Trade activity for grapes and other summer fruits remains strong on regional platforms, with Italy, Spain, Türkiye, and Egypt as the principal supplier countries. Availability from Uzbekistan and Moldova has declined, while Türkiye and Iran have increased their offers, intensifying competition for European buyers, including those in Poland.
Poland continues to import table grapes from Southern Europe, benefiting from the current price reductions and high availability. The expected seasonal increase in demand in Central and Eastern Europe may influence further trade flows from Italy and Spain to Poland in August and September.
Wholesale demand for table grapes in Italy is still below peak levels for the season, but retailers and suppliers anticipate stronger sales in the coming weeks as consumer interest typically rises in late summer.
