Stable wholesale prices for Italian tomatoes, Turkish dried tomato exports exceed €56 million

Türkiye, the world's third largest tomato producer, exported 18,301 tonnes of dried tomatoes valued at $60,989,000 (about €56 million) in January–June 2026. The majority of dried tomato production is concentrated in the Antalya, Mersin, and Izmir provinces, with the main harvest and drying period occurring in July.

On the Eastern European market, Ukraine reported a decline in tomato supply in week 30 of 2026, with other vegetables such as cucumber, sweet pepper, and eggplant becoming more abundant. This reduction in tomato availability coincides with a broader trend of shifting supply and demand patterns in the region, influencing trade flows and potential sourcing for importers, including Poland.

In France, new authorizations for phytosanitary products for tomatoes were issued in July 2026, including biofungicides and pheromone products usable in both conventional and organic farming. Across southern Europe, a persistent heatwave has altered consumption patterns, boosting demand for melons and watermelons while slowing sales for other vegetables, including tomatoes.
