Import of lemons to Poland after Q3 2021

The volume of lemons imported to Poland (CN category 08055010 - Lemons (Citrus limon, Citrus limonum)), fresh or dried) amounted to 97.0 thousand tonnes after three quarters of 2021, and its value to PLN 421.3 million. This means that, year-on-year, imports in this category decreased minimally in terms of quantity and much more significantly in terms of value.
 
After three quarters of 2020, imports in this category amounted to 97.2 thousand tonnes, and their value to PLN 514.2 million. This means a drop by 0.3 thousand tonnes or 0.3 per cent in volume terms and by PLN 92.9 million or 18.1 per cent in value terms.
 
The average price of lemons imported to Poland in the three quarters of 2021 amounted to PLN 4.35/kg compared to PLN 5.29/kg in the same period of 2020. This represents a year-on-year fall in the average price by 17.8 per cent.
 
The ranking of Poland's top five lemon suppliers did not change between the first three quarters of 2020 and the same period of 2021.
 
Spain strengthened its position, increasing volumes from 51.9 to 53.1 thousand tonnes.
 
Argentina remained in second place with a decrease in deliveries from 14.8 to 12.4 thousand tonnes.
 
Germany remained in third place despite a decrease from 10.7 to 10.6 thousand tonnes.
 
South Africa strengthened its position in fourth place with an increase in volume from 6.2 to 8.0 thousand tonnes.
 
In fifth place is Turkey with an increase in deliveries from 5.7 to 6.2 thousand tonnes.
 
Among these suppliers, lemons imported from Germany (re-export) fetched the highest average price of 6.13 PLN/kg. The cheapest lemons were imported from Turkey at PLN 3.34 per kg and lemons from the largest supplier, Spain, were sold at an average price of PLN 3.87 per kg.
