Imports of sweet paprika to Poland in 2021

The volume of paprika imports to Poland (category 07096010 - sweet peppers, fresh or chilled) in 2021 amounted to 67.0 thousand tonnes, and its value to PLN 514.2 million. This means a decrease in both the volume of imports of these vegetables year-on-year and their value.

Imports in this category in 2020 amounted to 71.5 thousand tonnes and PLN 528.7 million. This gives a decrease in volume by 4.6 thousand tons, i.e. by 6.4 per cent, and a drop in value by PLN 14.5 million, i.e. by 2.7 per cent.

The average price of paprika imported to Poland in 2021 amounted to 7.68 PLN/kg compared to 7.39 PLN/kg in the same period of 2020. This means a year-on-year increase by 3.9 percent.

Spain remained the largest supplier of pepper to Poland, with volumes decreasing from 43.8 to 32.8 thousand tonnes between 2020 and 2021.

The second position was occupied by the Netherlands, where supplies increased from 15.8 to 18.5 thousand tonnes.

Germany remained in third place with a reduction in volume from 10.4 to 10.1 thousand tonnes.

Turkey has risen from thirteenth place to fourth, with deliveries increasing from just 35 tonnes to 2 200 tonnes.

Israel has dropped to fifth place from fourth despite a volume increase from 0.5 to 1.3 thousand tonnes.

Morocco dropped from fifth to sixth place, also with an increase in volume from 0.3 to 0.8 thousand tonnes.

The most expensive paprika to Poland in 2021, as far as the five largest suppliers are concerned, was imported from Germany - with an average price of 10.39 PLN/kg, and the cheapest from Turkey, at an average price of 6.54 PLN/kg. Peppers from the largest supplier, Spain, had an average price of 7.10 per kilo.
