A growing offer of native greenhouse vegetables on the Polish market

Today is the beginning of the calendar summer, so it is not surprising that the offer of domestic greenhouse vegetables on the Polish market is already wide. In recent days, the first batches of domestic aubergines and peppers have reached our market, but only for now in green and white. The offer of domestic greenhouse vegetables will be complete when the red pepper arrives on the market. We'll have to wait a few more days for that, although red bell peppers will certainly appear earlier than last year.

The same is true of aubergines. This year's start to the season is similar to that of two years ago, and faster than last year. As far as prices are concerned, domestic aubergines on the wholesale market are currently being offered at 5.00-6.00 PLN per kilo, while in store they are starting at 4.00 PLN per kilo. This means a level at the start higher than those of the previous two seasons (respectively +25 per cent compared to the 2021 season, but starting around 30.06 and +10 per cent compared to the beginning of the 2020 season).

Green pepper prices at the start of this year's season are 4.00-6.00 PLN/kg wholesale. And these prices are lower than in the previous two years. Compared to the beginning of the 2021 season it is -27 percent and compared to the beginning of the 2020 season it is -9 percent. In the case of white peppers, current prices are 5.00-8.00 zlotys per kilogram and this is also lower than the previous season, by -13 percent. Such relations to the previous season may be worrying for pepper producers.
