Avocado imports to Poland at the end of Q2 2021

The volume of avocado imports to Poland (CN category: 08044000 - Avocado, fresh or dried) amounted to 14.2 thousand tonnes in the first half of 2021, and its value to PLN 193.9 million. This means an increase in imports in this category year-on-year in terms of volume and especially in terms of value.

Imports of avocados in the first half of 2020 amounted to 12.0 thousand tonnes and PLN 142.2 million respectively. This gives an increase in volume by 2.3 thousand tonnes, i.e. by 18.8%, and an increase in value by PLN 51.6 million, i.e. by 36.3%.

The average price of avocados imported to Poland in the first half of 2021 was PLN 13.63/kg compared to PLN 11.88/kg in the same period of 2020. This gives a year-on-year increase of 14.7 percent.

Peru remains the leader in the ranking of avocado suppliers to Poland. Between the first half of 2020 and the same period of 2021, Peru increased its volume of deliveries by 2.8 to 3.7 thousand tonnes.

The Netherlands moved up from eleventh place by increasing deliveries from 0.5 to 1.9 thousand tonnes.

Spain has consequently dropped to third place from second with imports increasing from 1.5 to 1.7 thousand tonnes.

Israel remained in fourth place with an increase from 1.1 to 1.5 thousand tonnes.

Germany has dropped to fifth from third with an increase in deliveries from 1.3 to 1.4 thousand tonnes.

South Africa has dropped from fifth to eighth place, with imports falling from 0.8 to 0.6 thousand tonnes.

Among the five largest suppliers, the most expensive avocados in the first half of 2021 were imported to Poland from Israel at an average price of 15.17 PLN/kg. The cheapest avocados were imported from Germany - at an average of 11.80 PLN per kilogram, and the average import price from the largest supplier, Peru, was 12.19 PLN per kilogram.
