The volume of imports of highbush blueberries to Poland (more precisely, fruit of the CN 08104050 category - Fruits of the Vaccinium macrocarpon and Vaccinium corymbosum species, fresh) in the first half of 2021 amounted to 8.7 thousand tonnes, while its value reached 233.8 million PLN. This means a large increase in imports in this category year-on-year, both in terms of volume and value.
In the first half of 2020, the volume of imports in this category amounted to 3.8 thousand tonnes, and its value to PLN 104.6 million. This gives an increase in volume by 4.9 thousand tonnes, or 127.2%, and an increase in value by as much as PLN 129.3 million, or 123.6%.
The average price of blueberries imported to Poland in the first half of 2021 amounted to 26.91 zlotys per kilogram compared to 27.34 zlotys per kilogram in the same period of 2020. It means a year-to-year drop by 1.6 percent.
Spain has strengthened its position as the leading supplier of blueberries to Poland with the volume of deliveries increasing from 2.0 to 4.5 thousand tonnes between the first half of 2020 and the same period of 2021.
The Netherlands remains in second place with deliveries increasing from 0.8 to 2.2 thousand tonnes.
Chile moved up to third from fourth with an increase in deliveries from 0.3 to 1.0 thousand tonnes.
Portugal dropped from third to sixth place with deliveries down from 0.5 to 0.2 thousand tonnes.
In the first half of 2021, blueberries were imported to Poland from the Netherlands with an average price of 35.77 PLN/kg and the cheapest from Chile with an average price of 23.92 PLN/kg. The average price for blueberries from the largest supplier Spain was 25.16 PLN/kg in 2020.
