Cabbage exports from Poland in 2021
The volume of cabbage exports (CN category 070490 - Cabbage, kohlrabi, savoy cabbage and similar edible brassicas, except cauliflower, broccoli and Brussels sprouts, fresh or chilled) in 2021 amounted to 63.1 thousand tonnes and its value to PLN 118.9 million. This means a year-on-year increase in exports in this category, both in terms of volume and value.
In 2020, exports in this category amounted to 54.1 thousand tonnes and PLN 97.3 million. This gives a year-to-year increase in volume by 9.0 thousand tons, i.e. by 16.7 per cent and an increase in value by 21.7 million PLN, i.e. by 22.3 per cent.
The average price of vegetables exported from Poland in this category in 2021 amounted to 1.88 PLN/kg compared to 1.80 PLN/kg in the corresponding period of 2020, which means a year-to-year increase by 4.49 per cent.
Of course, this category is aggregated and includes a group of vegetables with different prices, so the above information is only of value insofar as it shows the direction of changes. For the subcategory "white and red cabbage (68 per cent of the total volume in this category), the average price changed from 1.38 PLN/kg to 1.39 PLN/kg, i.e. it increased by 0.7 per cent.
The Czech Republic ranked first, as the country's export increased from 12,2 to 13,6 thousand tonnes between 2020 and 2021.
Slovakia has dropped from first to second place, with a reduction in the volume of deliveries from 14.0 to 12.7 thousand tonnes.
Lithuania has risen to third place by increasing its purchased volume from 3.7 to 4.8 thousand tonnes.
Belarus has risen to fourth place with an increase in volume from 3.6 to 4.7 thousand tonnes.
Romania moved up to fifth from seventh place with an increase in volume from 2.4 to 3.5 thousand tonnes.
Germany has consequently dropped from fifth to sixth place, with exports rising from 2.9 to 3.5 thousand tonnes.
