Chinese cabbage holds its prices on the Polish market

The end of September and October usually bring decreases in wholesale prices of Chinese cabbage in Poland. This is the beginning of autumn or, more precisely, autumn-winter "price hole" on the wholesale market of this vegetable. This is the period when we have the highest supply of "chinese", and at the same time the demand for it is the weakest.

Rarely, however, there are seasons when this seasonal phenomenon does not occur. And such a season we have at present. This year the weather was not favourable for this cabbage, neither in the vegetation period nor in the harvest time. The consequence of this is a lower supply of this cabbage, especially when it comes to high-quality goods.

As can be seen from the graph above, the average selling price of large wholesale chinese cabbage has stabilised and thus found itself at its highest level for years. It is now in the range of 2.00-2.40 PLN/kg "ready". This does not mean that there is no downward pressure from buyers. It is clear that the demand side would like to reduce prices. But producers know that there is not much cabbage this year and many do not go below the price they declared a month ago. "Chinese cabbage is holding the price and you have to do everything to keep it that way," they say.
