Export of apple juice concentrate from Poland in 2021

Export volume of concentrated apple juice from Poland (CN category: 20097911 - Apple juice, unfermented and not containing alcohol, whether or not containing sugar, with a Brix value > 67, of a value <= 22 E per 100 kg net weight and 20097919 - Apple juice, unfermented and not containing alcohol, whether or not containing sugar, with a Brix value > 67, of a value > 22 E per 100 kg net weight) amounted to 223.3 thousand tonnes in 2021 and its value to PLN 1185.5 million (PLN 1.2 billion). This means an increase in exports in this category both in terms of quantity and value. Importantly, this growth took place in the last quarter of the year, because after three quarters the comparison was in favour of 2020. In the fourth quarter of 2021 alone, the export volume amounted to 79.1 thousand tonnes.

In 2020, exports of concentrated apple juice amounted to 201.1 thousand tonnes and PLN 1103.9 million. This means a year-on-year increase in volume by 22.2 thousand tonnes, or 11.0 percent, and an increase in value by PLN 81.6 million, or 7.4 percent.

The average price of apple juice concentrate exported from Poland in 2021 amounted to 5.31 PLN/kg, compared to 5.49 PLN/kg in 2020, which means a decrease by 3.3 per cent.

Germany remained the leading consumer of Polish concentrated apple juice, although exports to this country fell from 93.5 to 86.7 thousand tonnes between 2020 and 2021.

Second place went to the Netherlands, where volumes increased from 24.7 to 30.4 thousand tonnes.

Great Britain has dropped from second place to third, with exports falling from 31.5 to 28.4 thousand tonnes.

Austria remains in fourth place with an increase in volume from 7.9 to 18.8 thousand tonnes.

The United States moved up to fifth place from sixth with an increase in volume from 5.9 to 12.6 thousand tonnes.

France dropped from fifth to sixth place despite a volume increase from 6.2 to 9.6 thousand tonnes.

As far as the five largest suppliers are concerned, the most expensive purchases of Polish concentrated apple juice in 2021 were made by the United Kingdom at an average price of 5.38 PLN/kg. The cheapest purchases were made by the United States, at an average of 4.80 PLN/kg, and by the largest recipient, Germany, at an average of 5.27 PLN/kg.
