Export of beetroots from Poland in 2021

The volume of beet exports (CN category 07069090 - Salad beet, salsify, radish, other edible roots except carrots, turnips, celeriac (root and German) and horseradish, fresh or chilled) in 2021 amounted to 23.1 thousand tonnes and its value to PLN 49.0 million. This means a large year-on-year increase in both volume and value terms.

In 2020, exports in this category amounted to 13.9 thousand tonnes and PLN 33.5 million. This gives an increase in volume by 9.1 thousand tons, i.e. by 65.7 per cent, and an increase in value by 15.4 million PLN, i.e. by 46.1 per cent.

The average price of vegetables from this category exported from Poland in 2021 was 2.12 PLN/kg compared to 2.41 PLN/kg in 2019. This gives a year-on-year decrease of 12.0 per cent. At the same time, it should be remembered that this category includes several vegetable species with varying prices.

Slovakia remains at the first place in the ranking of Polish vegetable buyers, with exports between 2020 and 2021 falling from 4.2 to 3.8 thousand tonnes.

Ukraine has risen from ninth place to second, with exports rising from 0.3 to 3.7 thousand tonnes.

Belarus has risen to third place from twentieth with an increase in volume from 44 tonnes to 2 900 tonnes.

The Czech Republic dropped to fourth place from second with an increase in volume from 2.6 to 2.7 thousand tonnes.

Germany dropped to fifth place from third with an increase in volume from 1.4 to 1.8 thousand tonnes.

Romania dropped from fourth to sixth place with an increase in deliveries from 1.0 to 1.4 thousand tonnes.

Hungary went from fifth to tenth with a reduction in volume from 1.0 to 0.7 thousand tonnes.
