Export of frozen strawberries from Poland in Q1 2022

The volume of frozen strawberries exported from Poland (CN 081110 category - Strawberries and strawberries uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water, frozen, whether or not containing added sugar or other sweeteners) amounted to 20.5 thousand tonnes in Q1 2022, and its value to PLN 146.5 million. This represents a slight year-on-year increase.

In the first quarter of 2021, exports in this category amounted to 20.2 thousand tonnes and PLN 135.3 million. This means an increase in volume by 0.3 thousand tonnes, i.e. by 1.6%, and an increase in value by PLN 11.1 million, i.e. by 8.2%.

The average price of frozen strawberries exported from Poland in the first quarter of 2022 was 7.13 PLN/kg compared to 6.70 PLN/kg in the same period of 2021, which means a year-on-year increase of 6.4 per cent.

Germany remained in first place among the largest recipients of frozen strawberries from Poland, maintaining a volume of 7.3 thousand tonnes between the first quarter of 2021 and 2022.

France has risen from fourth to second place, increasing its volume from 1.5 to 2.1 thousand tonnes.

The Netherlands has strengthened its position in third place by increasing its purchases of Polish frozen strawberries from 1.7 to 2.1 thousand tonnes.

Austria dropped from second to fourth place with a reduction in volume from 1.8 to 1.6 thousand tonnes.

Belgium remained in fifth place with a reduction in purchases from 1.5 to 1.4 thousand tonnes.

As far as average prices of frozen strawberries exported from Poland are concerned, in the first quarter of 2022 the highest average price among the five largest importers was paid by Austria - 13.83 PLN/kg, and the lowest by the largest importer, Germany - an average of 6.57 PLN/kg.
