First raspberries at the collection points in Poland

The first information about raspberry buying-in prices in Poland have appeared. This purchase has been started in a few points in the Voivodship Lubelskie, where the crops of these fruits are concentrated, including summer raspberries. We are talking about prices at the level of 8.00-9.00 PLN/kg, depending on fruit quality. This is quite a lot, but is it high enough to compensate for yield losses and rising costs?

And the yield losses may be considerable, because in the Lublin region in recent days the weather has shown what it can do. Thunderstorms and hail have passed through the raspberry-growing region and have caused considerable damage to plantations. The damage may be difficult for a large percentage of producers to rebuild.

Purchases of raspberries for processing will not pick up for several more weeks. For the time being, therefore, the market belongs to dessert raspberries. And here we have another fall in wholesale prices. Currently, wholesale prices for raspberries are usually 20.00-30.00 PLN/kg, depending on quality. And quality can vary due to capricious weather conditions. Summer raspberries are a very delicate fruit.

It is worth noting that, despite a price drop of 17 per cent over the last week, the average price at the large wholesaler remains higher compared to the same level both last year (+25 per cent) and compared to that of 2019 (by as much as 67 per cent).
