The import volume of fresh strawberries (081010 - Strawberries and strawberries, fresh) to Poland amounted to 17.6 thousand tonnes in the first half of 2021, and its value to 150.3 million PLN. This means an increase in imports in this category year-on-year, both in terms of volume and value.
In the first half of 2020, 16.5 thousand tonnes of fresh strawberries were imported to Poland for PLN 140.4 million. This represents a year-on-year increase in volume by 1.1 thousand tonnes, or 6.6 percent, and an increase in value by PLN 12.2 million, or 7.0 percent.
The average price of imported strawberries in the first half of 2021 was 8.55 PLN/kg compared to 8.52 PLN/kg in the same period of 2020, which means a minimal year-on-year increase of 0.4 percent.
Spain remains the number one supplier of fresh strawberries to Poland, with the volume of deliveries from Spain remaining at 9.0 thousand tonnes between the first half of 2020 and the same period of 2021.
Greece remained in second place with deliveries increasing from 4.0 to 4.8 thousand tonnes over the period.
Germany remained in third place with a decrease in volume from 1.8 to 1.7 thousand tonnes.
In fourth place, Serbia increased its deliveries from 0.5 to 0.6 thousand tonnes.
Turkey moved up to fifth from ninth place with deliveries increasing from 59 tonnes to 0.4 thousand tonnes.
Morocco dropped from fifth to thirteenth place, with strawberry imports dropping from 0.3 thousand tonnes to just 44 tonnes.
As far as average prices for strawberries imported to Poland in the first half of 2021 from the five largest suppliers are concerned, the highest average price was from Germany - 11.47 PLN per kilo. The cheapest strawberries were imported from Greece at an average price of 7.08 per kilo and the average price from the largest supplier, Spain, was 8.95 per kilo.
