Imports of sweet peppers to Poland at the end of Q2 2021

The volume of pepper imports to Poland (CN category 070960 - Fresh or chilled fruits of the genus Capsicum or of the genus Pimenta) in the first half of 2021 amounted to 43.4 thousand tonnes, and its value to 360.7 million PLN. This means a significant decrease in both the volume of imports of these vegetables year-on-year and their value.

Imports in this category in the first half of 2020 amounted to 54.1 thousand tonnes and PLN 435.2 million. This gives a decrease in volume by 10.8 thousand tons, i.e. by 19.9%, and a decrease in value by PLN 64.5 million, i.e. by 14.8%.

The average price of pepper imported to Poland in the first half of 2021 was 8.55 PLN/kg compared to 8.04 PLN/kg in the same period of 202 years. This means a year-on-year increase of 6.3 percent.

The top three pepper suppliers to Poland between H1 2020 and 2021 did not change in order.

Spain remained in the first place with a decrease in volume from 33.7 to 22.6 thousand tonnes.

The Netherlands remains in second place with a decrease in deliveries from 12.3 to 9.5 thousand tonnes.

Germany remained in third place with a reduction in volume from 6.9 to 6.6 thousand tonnes.

The most expensive pepper in Poland in the first quarter of 2021, as far as the three largest suppliers are concerned, was imported from Germany - with an average price of 11.25 PLN/kg, and the cheapest from the leader of the ranking - Spain, at an average price of 7.72 PLN/kg.
