Lettuce exports from Poland in 2021

Volume of lettuce exports (CN categories: 070511 - Head lettuce, fresh or chilled and 070519 - Fresh or chilled lettuce excluding head lettuce) in 2021 amounted to 18.5 thousand tonnes and its value to 90.0 million PLN. This means a significant increase in exports in this category year-on-year.

In 2020, the export volume in this category amounted to 15.9 thousand tons, and its value reached PLN 72.5 million. This means a year-to-year increase in volume by 2.6 thousand tons, i.e. by 16.6%, and an increase in value by PLN 17.5 million, i.e. by 24.1%.

The average price of head lettuce (category 070511) exported from Poland in 2021 was 4.35 PLN/kg compared to 3.98 PLN/kg in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 9.3 percent.

The average price at which lettuces from category 070519 were exported from Poland in 2021 was PLN 5.79/kg compared with PLN 5.82/kg in 2019, a year-on-year decrease of 0.5 per cent.

The leading position in the ranking of importers of Polish lettuce was strengthened, between 2020 and 2021, by Ukraine increasing the volume of lettuce purchased in Poland from 5.9 to 8.1 thousand tonnes.

Lithuania has moved up from third place, with exports to Lithuania increasing from 1.6 to 2.4 thousand tonnes.

Belarus has risen from fourth place to third with a volume of 1.1 thousand tonnes.

Italy has risen from fifth place to fourth, with imports of Polish lettuces increasing from 1.0 to 1.1 thousand tonnes.

Germany dropped to fifth place from second place with a volume decrease from 1.9 to 0.9 thousand tonnes.
