Mandarins imports to Poland in Q1 2021

The total import volume of mandarins (CN category 080521 - Mandarins (including tangerines and satsumas), fresh or dried) and clementines (CN category 080522 - Clementines, fresh or dried) in the first quarter of 2021 amounted to 65.7 thousand tonnes, with a value of 241.1 million PLN. This means an increase both in the volume of imports in these categories year-on-year and in their value.
In the first quarter of 2020, the volume of these imports amounted to 56.6 thousand tonnes and its value to PLN 238.8 million. This gives an increase in volume by 9.0 thousand tonnes, or by 15.9%, and an increase in value by PLN 2.2 million, or by 0.9%.
The average price of mandarins and clementines imported to Poland was PLN 3.67/kg in the first quarter of 2021 compared with PLN 4.22/kg in 2019, a year-on-year decrease of 13.0 per cent.
As for changes in the geographical structure of mandarin and clementine imports to Poland between the first quarter of 2020 and the same period of 2021, there was not much in the top five suppliers.
First place was maintained by Spain, which increased deliveries from 31.4 to 38.6 thousand tonnes.
Second place was maintained by Turkey despite a reduction in the volume of deliveries from 10.0 to 8.6 thousand tonnes.
Greece moved up to third place from sixth, increasing its deliveries from 1.9 to 5.9 thousand tonnes.
Fourth place was maintained by Germany with an increase in deliveries from 3.0 to 4.8 thousand tonnes.
Italy remained in fifth place with an increase in volume from 2.0 to 2.6 thousand tonnes.
Outside of the top five (down from third to eighth place), Morocco has shrunk from 3.6 to 1.2 thousand tonnes.
As for the average prices of mandarins and clementines imported to Poland in the first quarter of 2021, the highest average price among the five largest suppliers was that of fruit from Germany at 5.25 PLN/kg and the lowest price was for fruit imported from Italy at 2.36 PLN/kg. Fruit from the largest supplier, Spain, had an average price of 3.52 PLN/kg.
