Potato prices in Poland with slight fluctuations

2021-10-14 09:52
According to forecasts by the Central Statistical Office (CSO), this year's potato harvest in Poland will be lower than last year's and is expected to reach 7.1 million tonnes. This assessment is confirmed by the market situation. Potato prices at the Polish wholesale market are significantly higher than a year ago.

The only similarity between the two seasons is the flat price trend - with some up and down fluctuations, but no clear long-term trend. Only that a year ago it was for yellow potatoes of 45+ calibre, packed in 15 kg bags, a level for the average price in the range of 0.27-0.40 PLN/kg. This year the maximum average price is PLN 0.67/kg and the minimum PLN 0.50/kg.

The prices of the aforementioned yellow potatoes are currently most frequently between 0.53-0.67 PLN/kg. As far as red potatoes are concerned, this is 0.60-0.80 PLN/kg and white potatoes 0.73-0.93 PLN/kg. Demand for potatoes in the wholesale trade remains good, which may suggest that many operators are stocking up for the rest of the season. On the other hand, there is also no problem with supply so far. There is no shortage of offers to sell potatoes.
