Prices of strawberries in Poland - it has become a record

With the rainy weather on Monday, prices for dessert strawberries in Poland stopped falling again and instead tended to strengthen throughout the day. As a result, they are at record levels. This is according to price monitoring by fresh-market.pl.

Yesterday's quotations at 5.00-7.50 PLN/kg, giving an average of 6.25 PLN/kg, were higher than on the same day in at least the last seven seasons. This can be seen in the graph below. Year-on-year this is an increase of +25 per cent.

Of course, strawberry prices are quite volatile and this relationship may change in a moment. But the fact itself is significant, especially if we consider the disastrous start to the season in terms of prices. However, the current price level of dessert strawberries is not only a result of the weather, but also of high demand for strawberries in the processing sector.
