The price situation on the domestic market for beetroot has clearly become more dynamic. The period of the autumn harvest and the time immediately following it is the phase of the season when beet supply is naturally the highest. And this is already enough to generate increased pressure on current wholesale prices for these vegetables.
Now this seasonal phenomenon seems to be occurring with increased force. A large number of producers are reluctant to store beet for fear that they will not be able to sell it later at prices that would at least guarantee a return. For these vegetables, it often happens that neither winter nor spring brings a significant price increase. And storage costs will certainly be significantly higher this season.
As can be seen on the graph above, the "sale" of beet started in October (more precisely, on the threshold of the second decade of the past month) and has already reduced the average price, which previously remained at a relatively high level, from 0.68 PLN/kg to 0.48 PLN/kg, i.e. by 29 per cent. Currently, beetroot prices for washed and bagged beetroot are mostly at 0.40-0.55 PLN/kg. Their current prices are already lower than last year - by 13 per cent on average.
