The prices of the Chinese cabbage are in the upward trend again

Already the second half of February brought a weakening of demand for Chinese cabbage in Polish wholesale. The first half of March only deepened this downturn. Overall, the average selling price at the large wholesaler fell by 17.5 per cent during this period. Of course, as can be seen in the graph below, prices remained relatively high. Higher than in all previous seasons included in our compilation. However, the downward trend was worrying for producers, especially given the high cost of storage.

Now, however, the market for Chinese cabbage seems to be recovering. Demand has strengthened. There is interest from exports (e.g. to Germany). However, it should be noted that the dynamics of these changes are not the same everywhere in the country, which translates into differences in current prices.

The average price has increased - by 18 per cent since last week. Currently, selling prices of Chinese cabbage ("ready" in a carton, on a pallet) are 3,30-4,50 PLN/kg, depending on the region of the country and the caliber of the goods and their quantity. The price growth has so far been uneven, but it seems that it will continue and we are facing an end to the season similar to last year. Especially with the continued high prices of imported one.
