The volume of fresh paprika exports from Poland in 2021

The volume of fresh paprika exports from Poland (CN category 07096010 - Sweet paprika, fresh or chilled) in 2021 amounted to 21.7 thousand tonnes, and its value reached 95.7 million PLN. This means a significant decrease in exports in this category, both in terms of quantity and value.

Paprika exports in 2020 amounted to 27.7 thousand tonnes and PLN 123.4 million, respectively. This means a decrease in volume by 6.0 thousand tonnes, i.e. by 21.7 per cent, and a decrease in value by PLN 27.7 million, i.e. by 22.5 per cent.

The average price of paprika exported from Poland in 2021 amounted to 4.41 PLN/kg compared to 4.46 PLN/kg in 2020, which means a year-on-year decrease by 1.1 per cent.

Ukraine remained the leading consumer of Polish paprika, with a decrease in volume purchased between 2020 and 2021 from 7.5 to 4.6 thousand tonnes.

Belarus remained in second place with a decrease in supplies from 4,4 to 2,2 thousand tonnes.

Germany remains in third place, although exports to this country have fallen from 2.6 to 1.6 thousand tonnes.

The Czech Republic remains in fourth place, also with a reduction in purchased volumes from 1.5 to 1.4 thousand tonnes.

Italy has risen to fifth from eighth place with an increase in volume from 1.2 to 1.5 thousand tonnes.

The Netherlands dropped from fifth to eighth place with a volume decrease from 1.5 to 1.4 thousand tonnes.

As far as our five biggest buyers are concerned, Poland's most expensive exports in 2021 were to Ukraine and Italy - at an average price of PLN 4.81 per kilo. The cheapest exports were to Belarus at PLN 2.77 per kilo. And here again, as often in CSO data, the price for Belarus clearly stands out in minus from the others.
