WAPA - pear stocks, April 2021.

2021-05-05 09:07
WAPA has published an updated estimate of pear stocks. As for the European Union countries (plus Switzerland), stocks of this fruit, as of 1 April 2021, amounted to 273,473 tonnes. The vast majority of these stocks, 229,924 tonnes, are Conference pears. A month earlier, the volume of pear stocks was estimated at 428,671 tonnes.

In March 2020, 156,198 tonnes disappeared from European warehouses. This means a 36.4 per cent month-on-month decrease in pear stocks in the EU. In February, the "disappearance" of pears amounted to 164,694 tonnes. As it can be seen, the trade of this fruit in March was a little less dynamic than in February.

In the current season, there are more pears in the EU countries than a year ago. According to WAPA data, the stock on 1.04.2020 amounted to 186,672 tonnes, so there are 86,801 tonnes more pears year-to-year. This is an increase of 46.5 per cent.

As for Poland, at the beginning of April 2021, WAPA estimated Polish pear stocks at 1,000 tonnes. A month earlier it was 2,000 tonnes. This means a "descent" in January of 1,000 tonnes. Thus, stocks halved in March 2021. A year earlier, as of 1 April 2020, Polish pear stocks were zero tonnes.
